The Role

Joining Moderna means advancing mRNA science to transform medicine. Work with exceptional global teams on a broad pipeline and build a career that makes a real difference for patients.

Moderna is strengthening its presence in Cambridge, Massachusetts, home to our global headquarters and a center of mRNA innovation. Working closely with leading universities and research institutions, our Cambridge team advances groundbreaking science that shapes the future of medicine. We welcome talent driven by innovation and committed to improving global health.

Moderna continues to expand its innovative mRNA platform into new diseases and therapeutic areas, and this individual contributor role will play a critical part in preparing the US oncology commercial organization for the potential launch of our first commercial oncology therapeutic.

You will lead the development and implementation of commercial training and capability programs supporting intismeran autogene, Moderna’s personalized mRNA cancer therapy program being advanced in collaboration with Merck, translating complex oncology science, clinical evidence, commercial strategy, and customer needs into practical field capabilities.

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, INT, with a dotted-line relationship to the Head of Enterprise Talent and Capability, you will work across sales, marketing, market access, medical affairs, commercial operations, analytics, legal, compliance, Enterprise Talent and Capability, and our alliance partner to build a launch-ready commercial organization and help shape Moderna’s emerging oncology business.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Lead the implementation of oncology sales training programs across Moderna’s US commercial organization, ensuring customer-facing teams build the product knowledge, clinical fluency, oncology expertise, and commercial selling capabilities required to engage customers effectively and deliver approved product messaging.
  • Translate commercial strategy, the product profile, clinical evidence, scientific platforms, and the broader personalized cancer treatment proposition into practical, field-ready learning programs that enable consistent and effective commercial execution.
  • Support launch readiness for intismeran autogene, Moderna’s individualized neoantigen therapy program, helping prepare the organization for the potential introduction of Moderna’s first commercial therapeutic in oncology and contributing to the development of Moderna’s broader oncology commercial capabilities.
  • Provide strategic input and feedback to the alliance partner on the development of product training programs, curricula, learning materials, and associated launch-readiness resources.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and the alliance team to develop, adapt, or source innovative training content and capability-building solutions that respond to the evolving needs of the oncology sales organization.
  • Partner with Enterprise Talent and Capability to leverage existing Moderna learning programs, platforms, technologies, and resources, creating a coordinated and consistent learner experience across the enterprise.
  • Partner cross-functionally to design and implement onboarding programs that accelerate new-hire readiness, while establishing ongoing learning approaches that support continuous capability development beyond initial launch preparation.
  • Develop and implement a skills-based selling curriculum focused on effective messaging, questioning techniques, objection handling, customer engagement, and the application of those capabilities in complex oncology customer interactions.
  • Partner with sales leadership to develop coaching tools, reinforcement approaches, and field-development resources that strengthen capabilities, increase adoption of training, and support consistent execution across the sales organization.
  • Work with commercial operations and analytics to develop training that builds field proficiency in CRM platforms, data analytics, customer targeting, profiling, and the effective use of commercial insights in territory and account execution.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership, marketing, and market access to develop high-quality training content and learning experiences for national and regional sales meetings.
  • Engage closely with the sales organization and broader commercial organization to identify gaps in customer-facing skills, knowledge, and execution, then design the tools, learning interventions, and resources required to strengthen performance.
  • Develop training KPIs, learner assessments, and sales capability certification approaches that provide clear measures of readiness, learning adoption, and capability progression.
  • Leverage stakeholder feedback, learner data, assessment outcomes, and commercial performance indicators to evaluate training effectiveness, identify emerging capability gaps, and continuously improve learning programs.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance partners to ensure all commercial training content, materials, programs, and execution approaches comply fully with Moderna policies and all applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and promotional requirements.
  • Bring extensive oncology training and launch experience to the organization, applying strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills to influence across a highly matrixed environment.
  • Apply experience working within an alliance environment where relevant, helping Moderna and its partner align training strategy, materials, and execution while maintaining clear ownership of capability development for Moderna’s commercial oncology organization.
  • Explore responsible opportunities to use Generative AI and emerging digital learning tools to accelerate content development, personalize learning experiences, synthesize learner insights, and create innovative reinforcement approaches, while operating within Moderna’s governance, compliance, and data-protection requirements.
  • Operate with a high degree of ownership as an individual contributor, moving fluidly between training strategy and hands-on execution while helping build the commercial capabilities required for Moderna’s expansion into oncology.

The key Moderna Mindsets you’ll need to succeed in the role:

  • “We act with dynamic range, driving strategy and execution at the same time at every step.”
