Overview
This is synthetic vitamin E, dl-alpha-tocopherol, joined to acetate as an ester to prolong shelf life, and Health Canada lists it as a vitamin E source. The body absorbs the ester as efficiently as free alpha-tocopherol, but the synthetic form is only half as active by weight as the natural form. Large amounts taken with warfarin can raise the risk of bleeding.
Also called: Synthetic Vitamin E Acetate
