Overview
Retinyl acetate is one of the main forms of preformed vitamin A in supplements. Vitamin A is needed for normal vision, including colour vision and seeing in dim light. Too much preformed vitamin A in early pregnancy can cause birth defects. Single vitamin A supplements should not be combined with retinoid drugs such as acitretin.
